Elizabeth St. Gallery and Statue Garden

 

Yesterday I was riding up Elizabeth St. and passed the Elizabeth St. Gallery.  If you don't know, the gallery is a large collection of pieces of architecture, sculpture and lights and all around oblique and interesting objects.  I've passed this gallery and stopped to admire it for four years now; however it has never been open.

Now, weeks from leaving the city, it was finally open, and I took a look inside.

One of the items that caught my eye almost instantly was a safe which was made to look like a wooden barrel.  The description on the sales tag of the item said that these were used during the old sailing days and would be filled with gold, money and valuables and then slipped amongst other barrels.  Pretty Cool!

The place truly has some of the most amazing and flat-out neat stuff I've seen in one place in New York, not to mention a functioning fire place that looked to be about 10-feet high and 9 feet wide.
